Al-Qatt Al-Asiri painted panels, doors and contemporary works by recognised master artisans.
The Story
“Al-Qatt was painted by the women of the house, every few years, in new colour.”
01Origin & making
Asir, Saudi Arabia, Early 20th century. Painted or carved in place, as part of a building rather than as an object made for sale. Materials: Rosewood and brass.
02The life of the object
From a house in Rijal Almaa. Under the top layer, two earlier colour schemes survive at the edges — a stratigraphy of three separate repaintings by three generations of women.
03The journey to Arajiz
Removed during a documented 2015 restoration, with permit copy. Offered through Asir Craft House in Abha. Our specialists examined material, tooling marks and repair history, and a full condition report accompanies the lot.
