The Story
“It came home full, and was emptied a spoonful at a time.”
01Origin & making
AlUla, Saudi Arabia, Mid 20th century. Made for the journey to Makkah — light enough to carry, sturdy enough to return. Materials: Brass and copper.
02The life of the object
A pilgrim's brass flask from around 1950, stamped with a Makkah vendor's mark. The stopper cord is original, and the interior tin lining is intact — rare, because most were scoured.
03The journey to Arajiz
From a Taif estate, kept wrapped in its pilgrimage cloth. Offered through Madinah Heritage Trust in Madinah. Our specialists examined material, tooling marks and repair history, and a full condition report accompanies the lot.
